CHATHAM BUSINESS COLLEGE, 1899

"John Thomson evidently thought that few, if any of his children would end up as farmers. To the best of my knowledge, none of the children ended up farming as a vocation. Each attended the Chatham Business School. These schools had sprung up to teach farm kids skills they could use in the move to the cities. So, over the course of time, each of John Thomson's kinder spend a year in Chatham-boarding with townspeople there."

- Ralph Harkness, great grandson of John and Margaret Thomson
